The Games We Play
Mostly reviews of video games, but included are other type of games that I find Spencer enjoys to play with his dad. Feel free to submit your own comments on games you like to play with your child (or someone older).

| Nintendo DS Pokemon Platinum | |
| Spencer went from playing card-based Pokemon to the Pokemon Platinum game on his Nintendo DS. Now he pretty much ignores the card game. However, we can still play each other through our own DS units and WiFi connection. It does require each player have their own DS unit and game cartridge, though. Platinum is an in-depth game with many levels and evolving pokemon characters. The accumulation of gym badges is one way in which to increase a pokemon’s capabilities as a player moves through the game. A lot of activity and changing scenarios add to the longevity of the game. Spencer loves beating me at the Pokemon battles (which is usually the case). Bottom line: of all the DS games we have purchased so far, I think this one has offered the most value. Great game for father and son to play, even at twice the price. | |
| Nintendo Wii MarioKart | |
| This past Christmas, Santa Claus brought Spencer a Nintendo Wii gaming system. His aunt gifted him MarioKart with the Wii Wheel and I purchased a second wheel. We have a blast driving the various crazy courses. One of our favorites is the Mushroom Cup. It is a basic course, but we like bouncing our karts off the mushroom tops as we cross the chasms. | |
