Movies we like to watch
This page lists movies Spencer and I like to watch and films I categorize as not appropriate for him, but I enjoy or have some usefulness (like chick flicks.) Click on the DVD image to the left of the review to read more reviews, or to purchase from the Nubze Store.

Surf’s Up
Great soundtrack! Spencer likes to dance to “Stand Tall,” by the Dirty Heads. I appreciate the lesson for me: not to get so caught up in the rat race that I miss what’s important, like hanging with family and friends. The movie’s lesson for Spencer: do not to give up on your dream, but don’t lose your friends in the process. And, it’s okay to come in second place, especially if your surf-chicken friend wins.
The Hangover
The hilarious misadventures of a bunch of guys in Las Vegas for their buddy’s bachelor party. Sounds like it has been done before (see Tom Hanks in Bachelor Party), but this one is sick and bizarre and more funny. I like how the director unfolds events throughout the movie. Zach Galifianakis was awesome as the creepy soon to be brother-in-law, and Ed Helm was brilliant as the pussy-whipped dentist. The film brought up memories of the stupid things I used to do with my buds when we were in our twenty’s. I definitely remember the many road trips to Vegas, baby. Although, I never picked a fight with Mike Tyson.
Parenthood
I was unsure which grouping to place this 20 year old masterpiece. This is the funniest of Steve Martin’s ‘Parenting’ movies. I relate to him as the father character and all the trials and tribulations he goes through just trying to be a good father. Jason Robards is great as the grandfather also trying to do well by his boys. This may not be a film to watch when all the dudes are together, but I like to watch it by myself (to help reassure me) or with a girlfriend (for, well, you know).
